My cousin (source of the version of the fox mentioned earlier on) stopped in this weekend and cleared up the mystery of the source for the song. He learned it from the Beers (sp?) family Christmas album. He said that it was quite a nice album of winter songs, rather than just Christmas ones, and will be sending along words and a tape of the song soon. Stay tuned. Sandy, Wally, do either of you carry this one or know who might? My cousin mentioned the record comppany, but I've already forgotton. It's been a bad week for thinking much.

The story line for this one is actually about two foxes who go out hunting and get into a chicken coop by way of a narrow hole. One fox is cautious and escapes. The other winds up embarrased (t say the least) because he eats too much to escape. Nice melody, and I'd suspect, some of that great open harmony.
