The passing of Estelle Klein is a sad happening certainly, but the mark she made with the Mariposa Folk Festival will/should stand as a bright focal point for any other new festival coordinators today who want to know how to do it right. Sadly, I never got to Mariposa, and I never met Estelle Klein; but from all I've heard about her from Emily Friedman, John Roberts, Tony Barrand, Ian Robb and others I feel that I actually did know her better than I know some people I get to see every day. From afar I always admired the way she obviously saw and presented this folk world of ours. ---And she saw it the way it ought to've been seen I always thought. I will miss her like I would a friend---and I thank her.
