I really love the time just before dusk, when the vast hordes of people have left the park for the day, leaving just me. I walk down to the shore and stand across from the island with the osprey nest. I may watch the osprey for a bit, or, if it's low tide, I may poke around in the tide pools for a while. It's a moment of sublime bliss, the beauty of the Maine coast and the quiet of the evening, and having it all to myself.
