Thread Name: BS: Shopping...
Subject: RE: BS: Shopping...
very old Dagwood & Blondie cartoon strip:

Blondie comes home from 'shopping' at Tudbury's, explaining that they had a sale...in the last panel, Dagwood is looking at the sheaf of bills, saying "I don't think we can afford to save that much money.."

I shop for bargains all the time...that is, sales on stuff we use anyway. I have VERY seldom paid full price on paper goods and peanut butter in recent years. Then there is stuff I buy ONLY when it is on sale...shoes, boneless chicken breasts, ice cream and Pepsi.

I can't tell you how long it has been since I went out to a store just to see if there was anything I could find to buy!...............wait..yes,I can!...I go to a local thrift store now & then and sometimes find REAL deals...(how about a multi-functional briefcase with 17 compartments of REAL Argentinian leather for $12? Must be a $200 item if you found it in a local fancy shop.) How about 4 strange but decorative and comfortable folding chairs that we use for house concerts and taking to craft shows for $19....

Now THAT's shopping...only spending money when it 1) Is necessary or 2)is such a bargain and USEFUL that you can't pass it up. and 3) You KNOW that you can re-sell it at a yard/tag sale or on EBay for more!
