Blatant self-promotion time - you has now been warned! My trio Ezeduzit has two festival appearances up & coming here in Ontario that I'd like to share with you, partly as promo and partly in hope of meeting a Mudcatter or two..
First of all, the group: my friends Stewart McPhail (who occasionally posts here), Jim Hodges and myself do sort of oldtime/roots/contemporary material (that's the most concise description we've got thus far). We've got one newly minted CD available, and we're sorta proud.
The festivals:
Saturday, July 10. The White Oak Folk Festival in Oakville, Ontario. This one's at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1494 Wallace Rd. Noon to 11pm. $12 at the door.
Other performers include: Laura Bird Barrie Davis Paul Langille Allison Lupton Don McGeoch Alfie Smith Keith Thompson D'Arcy Wickham
Workshops in the afternoon (I'll be hosting one called "Songs About Songs"). The evening concert starts off at 6pm with a special dedication to "absent friends". We'll be backing organizer Paul Young and then lead off the evening with our own concert set.
Friday - Sunday, July 16-18. The Almaguin Music Festival in Sundridge, Ontario ('bout 2&1/2 hours north of Toronto). $15 at the gate. This festival is organized by Glen Reid, whom some of you will recognize as a Mudcat member.
Other performers include: Tanglefoot Gregg Lawless Sneezy Waters & Zeke Mazurek Evalyn Parry Suzie Vinnick Ron Nigrini Alan Rhody Ken Whitely Haines and Leighton Tom Savage & Vanessa Longul Nineteen James
