Dave: thank for that, but the organisers of the gig have told me they cant access their normal PA source (or any other, which seems a bit odd), hence the problem. And as they regularly do things in C Sharp Ho, I think they must have failed in that direction. So I am trying to sort it myself. many thanks to all for offers of help.
