Sonnet 24/04/04                                       CMVIII

Shall I whisper my passions in her ears
To tell what I would of this sweet one ask?
Should I admit I cannot control fears
That she might find cause to take me to task?
I am a fool, to think she does not know
The longing in heart for a gentle touch.
Yet, do I wish to all of longings show,
With reason to think that I care too much?
But I must give my soul, to one who brings
Such hope to all my dreams. I owe her more
Than words might pay: Hers is the voice that sings
The hymns that of my future form the core.
She is my muse, and friend: How might I share
My lusts, and not lose all for which I care?
