Thread Name: Lyr Req: Paddy McGinty's Goat (Weston/Lee)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: last verses paddy mcginty,s goat
Val Doonican did a version of this which I think was a bit different in the last verse

Now old Paddy's goat, it had a wonderous appetite
And one day for breakfast it had some dynamite
A big box of matches he swallowed all serene
And out he went and swallowed up a quart of parafin (PRONOUNCED "PARAFEENE" TO RHYME WITH "SERENE")

He sat by the fire side he didn't give a hang
He swallowed a spark and exploded with a bang
So when you go to heaven you can bet the dollar note
That the angel with the whiskers on is Paddy McGinty's goat.

He also did a similar light hearted song called "Delaney's Donkey" which ends:

"Then the bookmakers drew aside
And they all committed suicide
The day Delaney's Donkey won the half mile race"
