Thread Name: Lyr Req: Swampin' of the Genesee Belle
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Swampin' of the Genesee Belle
There's a sound sample at Neil Woodward's website, from which I transcribed this—but several parts are highly questionable. Corrections are welcome.

SWAMPIN' OF THE GENESEE BELLE
As sung by Neil Woodward on "In the Year of the Dog" 1994. The tune is the same as "The Wreck of the Old 97."

After many long years on the mighty —— (?)
    the Queen was reassigned,
And a thousand fares later on her maiden voyage weekend,
a hundred still waited in line.
As they loaded the passengers for one more excursion,
the motor turned smooth and hot,
And several minutes later when she foundered (?) the bottom,
a hero was born on the spot.
All of the citizens and dignitaries
    gathered to wish her well,
Now remains will involve (?) every part of the story
of the swampin' of the Genesee Belle.

The Genesee Belle seems to be a real excursion boat, but the website has very little information about it.
