Thread Name: Eliza Carthy on the Wireless Radio
Subject: RE: Eliza Carthy on the Radio
I thought the programme was quite good really, though being half an hour, it was kind of rushed; though that said, it was probably right for someone who is new to or unfamiliar with the genre. Was it just me or did anyone else think that Eliza sounded nervous? I thought the use of Martin Simpson rather than her father to comment on the use of guitar in British folk was well judged and my goodness, the recording of Carthy and Swarb showed just what fantastic players they were - not that they have regressed you understand! Hearing the Dransfields again was great, if only they would not "hide their light under a bushel". So folk rock next week - my how time flies.
