Flushing with the lid down creates a greater spread of that aerosol shit (think of it as the thumb over the end of the hosepipe), whereas, leaving the seat or lid up creates a lesser spread.

Laundry. The majority of clothing comes with little tags on it that have a code - this code tells you how you are supposed to treat it. It's like reading the code on an electrical item or a mechanical manual. You can learn one, learn the other! Actually, the majority of shrinkage these days, occurs when the item is tumble dried. The heat produced in the drying cycle is often much greater than that of the average wash.
