I remember all too well being incredulous that Pincus' and Priest's stories kept getting buried. The Post can claim a church/state wall between the newsroom and the editorial offices all it wants, the American public isn't buying their lame excuses.
There is one ingredient they keep neglecting to mention in these mea culpa recantations, though...
The international press, who didn't buy the flimsy evidence the US/UK was trying to pass off as incontrovertible proof.
I think the mainstream media may even be starting to lose credibility among the American people as a result of their totally whoring themselves out to the administration. Like somebody, I can't remember who now, said back during all the self-congratulatory coverage of the media by the media embedding themselves with the troops during the first war phase of the current war phase: "I'm much more concerned with reporters being embedded at the White House and the Pentagon, than I am with reporters being embedded in Iraq."
