Thread Name: Lyr Req: Kora (from The McCalmans)
Subject: Lyr Add: KORA (from the McCalmans)
Hi everybody,

Herma, who started this thread many years ago, gave me the transcription of Kora that she got from Nick Keir. Although Nick never sang Kora (as far as I know), he tried to get the words, and I think he did a great job. Anyway, here it is:

Kora

Cho: Kora of the upland dell
    Kora of the haunted well
Glad the bondage, sweet the spell
    Rouse me dear to thee

Then we wandered through the brake
Then we sailed upon the lake
Smooth the waters, fair Loch Tree
Through my true love and me

Cho

Then we climbed the mountains steep
While the world lies hushed in sleep
Often resting here to keep
Magic watch that none may see

Cho

Ben a Vrecht, aye Corrie Sheen
In our mossy homeland green
I will meet thee, fairy queen
In the hour that none may see

Cho

That's it! Ben a Vrecht is a mountain, Corrie Sheen is an upland peak.
Still, I would really like to know who wrote this. It may be traditional, but even traditional songs have authors... Somehow, to me it doesn't sound like a very old song, so somebody may still know something about it. Anybody?
