I have a friend with Linux who is trying to persuade me to set up a Linux Machine. Well, as a UNIX fan for ages, I would, but I want a machine that will have useful working sound... so I do have an interest in this subject too...

He has an onboard sound card, and can't seem to find sound apps that work well with it - they all seem to want PCI sound cards.

Any suggestions?
