Yeah, I remember those shows mentioned by Kendall. One of the earliest memories is of the "Hindenburg" fire & crash. Also Bill Stern & Saturday football.
Besides the LS Hit Parade there were "Name That Tune" and the WLS Barn Dance. Later on Grand Ole Opry. For the Classical fans there was the "400 Hour" with Norman Ross sponsored by the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad.(Route of the 400's------400 miles from Chicago to Minneapolis in 400 minutes). On every weekday morning 6 to 7 or 7 to 8; forget which.
Texaco put on the Metropolitan Opera every Saturday during the Met season. It was still on a year ago, but I don't know if Texaco is still involved. That musy be some sort of a record run.
