Nothing will improve unless people make a concerted effort to improve it. Ignoring the people who are trying to hijack the threads, be they tiresome, boorish wisecrackers trying to get attention for being funny, or abusive, mean spirited jerks, is the only thing that will work in an unmoderated forum.

When you ignore them, they really do go away.
