In southern Africa when the marula fruit ripens and drops it is eaten by many animals. It is in a natural ferment stage and said animals can be seen showing signs of intoxication, staggering round, giraffes with bendier necks, and very unwise monkeys or apes.
In South Africa a liquor called mompai (I think that is how it is spelled) is made from the maraula fruit. It is like white lightning.
