The drunken monkey martial arts style (as well as the other classic 'monkey' styles - wooden, stone, baby, etc) allegedly owe their genesis to the guy being locked up in the village pokey for misbehaving. He watched how the monkeys came into the village and stole food and the occasional bowl of booze. The antics of the monkeys when attacked, or being driven off inspired the moves of the various styles, and the most fascinating (and difficult) one was the drunken monkey - because it tended to move dizrhythnmically, and thus was most unpredictable.

Of course the 'drunken man' style exists, but that has a different genesis story, based on some fishermen I believe.
