A lot of nervous Kerry supporters out there. They feel they won their battle against the anti-war movement by successfully marginalizing the anti-war movement at their convention. But now they of course fear losing the war to them in the streets of NY.

I linked to some articles about the subject in some other threads, but it felt too much like I was thread hijacking, so I decided to bring this discussion to it's own thread.

Ah, so the Republicans have painted themselves into a corner, as the NY Times points out here. I'm betting Hizzoner Channeling King Richard is praying for the judge to force the city to open the park to the protestors at this point.

As for the protestors, it is clear that the authoritarians are not going to allow them their constitutional right to free assembly. So what to do? Obey the law, as the NY Times and other liberal bastion defenders of the authoritarian establishment keep imploring them to do, or follow the heart of the citizen that Tom Hayden speaks to Here when he argues that civil disobedience must remain a viable option for citizens being denied their democratic rights?

As the most highly visible, politically credible veteran of the 1968 Chicago convention, he isn't counseling acquiescing to the authoritarians. Yet, that seems to be precisely what the liberal go-along to get along organizers of the rally, the mealy-mouthed United for Peace and Justice, has said they will do. If their final legal appeal is denied, they will cancel the multi-culti rally racially balanced to PC perfection, they say. It would be a damn shame to deny Pete the right to stand before the liberal throngs in the park one more time, wouldn't it?

But not to be outflanked by the radical left, the Appeaser Faction of UFPJ's Co-Opt the Anarchists Wing say the march by Garden must go on Sudnay, despite the fact that they will have nowhere to go. Except to the park. But the UFPJ leadership insists they will not put any of the marchers in arrest situation jeopardy. Nay, their Grand Idea is to have their march, and all the feeder marchers (of which there are many) converging on Madison Square Garden should arrive at the Garden and...well, go away, and maybe listen to Brother Jesse and Brother Pete on the radio--you know, a sort of Remote Radio Rally for Peace and Justice.

However, there are now so many activists on the ground saying that to the park they will go, permit or no, that the Kerry camp is in a panic.

Hence, all the nervous Kerry ninnies predicting Armageddon (that is part of their PR campaign strategy this year) at the Garden by invoking lots of photographs on front pages of liberal rags this week of the Battle of Grant Park.

Ah, another shining example of the liberal Democrat's lose/lose strategy.
