I will be travelling by public transport, probably in Belfast Thurs & fri then up towards Ballycastle (maybe out to Rathlin?) and of course the Giant's Causeway. After the weekend, I'll go to Derry and Omagh as I have appointments with museum people there.
The ship (and people) I am researching left from Derry in July 1740 or 41, were dismasted in a storm and drifted around the north Atlantic until November when they came ashore on Grand Manan, New Brunswick. Some of the survivors were brought after 3-4 weeks to Pemaquid in Midcoast Maine (where I live) However one group ( 8-10 women and an infant)spent until April on the island when they were discovered by Passamoquoddy Indians who facilitated their rescue.
I'm working on a musical commemoration of the event. The genealogy I have done shows 6 of the 8 family names in North Antrim.
