Hi, CarolC. No real backstory, just wanting to thank some special folks for some exceptional help.

As a little 'something to do this summer' I taught two classes for adults with developmental disabilities. One was Poetry and the other was Reading/Plays. I really didn't have the faintest idea what I was doing, and I badgered a lot of good people around here and got some good advice. It has turned into a great program (thank you all) and we are going to continue it next quarter. Poetry is changing to a Creative Writing class ---they all want to try different projects. The Plays class is going to be one solid play instead of working on multiple projects. We just finished a soap-opera re-write of Hamlet that they have titled "The Young and The Danish". It's a hoot, and we should have a lot of fun doing it.

The best part is that after seeing what their friends did last quarter, EVERYONE enrolled in these classes this quarter. I'm serious. There is a 2-hour block in the day where the other instructors have no other students. I said I'd take anyone who wanted to have a crack at it, and now I'm going to have to figure out how to teach lines to people who can't read, and creative writing to people who can't write, but whatthehell....

Now, ya'll keep your fingers crossed for good grants and a permanent spot in the curriculum. Cheers, and the next round's on Bert.
