Sonnet 29/05/01                        DLXI

Do you hear caring in my words of rhyme?
Do I reach out to hold your feelings? Tell
Me if I touch your heart, or waste my time.
Is heart to dream of Heaven, or of Hell?
Can you feel all my hopes, or see the dreams
That dwell inside of me? How can I hold
To heart's desire, at such a distance? Schemes
To steal your heart are better left untold.

I send my words, and you send back to me
Both dreams and future verse: Can I not care
For one who gives so much of self? I see
How others don't see you, and your hopes wear.
I cannot help but love you: Not in lust,
But for smile, words, and caring: This I trust.
