OK, just had a great weekend full of concerts.

Went to see Capercaillie on Saturday, who were on fine form. Lots of Gaelic songs (only one in English), and some cracking tunes too.
Opening act by Karan Casey was good, with some amazing concertina playing by Niall Vallely. Never thought a concertina could sound so good!
Next day: opening act by Seamus Creagh and Jackie Daly, famous local players (fiddle and box), very releaxed gig. Then: Laoise Kelly on harp and Steve Cooney on guitar, playing mostly Turlough O'Carolan. Very special, glad I heard it, as I wouldn't have gone to a harp concert normally. Lots of people were impressed: many were buying Laoise's CD.
Main act: Mary Black, backed only by Pat Crowley on keyboards/accordeon and Bill Shanley on guitar (with Cooney and Kelly returning for a few songs). As I've only seen her with a full band before, I was curious to see how this would work out, but they did very well. Mary Black sang some unusual songs, and the interaction with the audience was great: it felt very intimate.

Altogether a lovely weekend!
Shame I didn't spot MichaelR or he me, and me wearing my MudCat t-shirt an'all!
