There's a great song that ends singing evenings in Ireland more times than not, and noone seems to have mentioned it yet in this thread. The only line I can remember this time of night is "We may or might never all meet here again",and so far as I can see it's not in the Digital Tradition storehouse.

If anyone's got it, let's have it. Otherwise I'll try finding it somewhere else, and bring it back here some time.

As for parting glass - I've a theory it's a hanging song. Yopu know, the kind you'd sing at the goodbye party the night before you were stretched, if you were a highwayman or whatever: "But since it falls unto my lot that I should rise and you should not..."

(Talking of that, there's another song I'd like to find, "The night before Larry was stretched")
