Incidentally, Laurel Bloomery still has a lovely fiddler's convention. Elizabeth and Sandy sang there a couple of weeks ago. A wonderful green spot by the old mill on the creek, good food, nice folks. Cheap camping too. They have a great stage setup for good weather and bad. If you are a little turned off by the "state fair" tone of the bigger conventions, you ought to try Laurel Bloomery the 4th Weekend in August.
Benton Flippen and Ed Michael (two of the best, if perhaps a little past their best years) played a twin fiddle set-- a treasured memory for me.
