2 ton of bricks should make you a healthy sized BBQ John. Seriously, don't give up on that idea. We have a simple brick built one in one of the old pig sties. It can be quite pleasant eating out there on a summer evening. I think next year, I might get Pip a present and buy a gas camping stove to go with it.

The theory is that we can do the burgers and whatever on the charcoal fueled brick job but rather than Pip going into the kitchen say to boil some spuds (I'd recommend pink fir apple or charlotte BTW - at least they are the ones we grow) as part of a salad mix (and this time of the year, there is no shortage of tomatos, lettuce, herbs, etc outside to pick), it could all be done more easily outside.

To drift even further... sorcha sent us some "ranch dressing". Never tried it before but it really goes well with that sort of meal!
