We had a neighbour years ago whose dog barked all night and kept us awake. Repeated requests to take the dog indoors had done no good. Finally, wide awake at 3:30 one morning, my husband phoned the neighbour, and barked, harshly and repeatedly, into the phone.

He then had a coughing fit, and the neighbour didn't take the dog indoors anyway, but he was barking mad, I guess.
