Mudlark---if it is as it seems, a straightforward gallbladder removal, get it done, NOW!!! many years ago [1969], I suffered the result of a gallbladder infection that wasn't detected. I was hit--hard---by acute pancreatitis which all but signed me out for good. I had to fight it out in hospital for six MONTHS. All a result of a rotten gallbladder. Get it done!! Good luck.
