Sonnet 04/06/02                              DCXCVIII

Shall I send words of passion to excite,
Or gentle whispers to tease out your dreams?
How shall I find a path to hope that seems
Beyond all reason, that we might share night?
You are a wild flower, a dream dryad:
Sweet rose, renewed by dawn and dew, to grow
Afresh each day, seeking to share your glow.
Can I hope to keep you from being sad?
I kiss your fingers, and touch lip to palm
As offer of concern, then raise my aim
To neck, and ear, and lips. How might I claim
Desires? You excite, but remain so calm.
What might I say, to share a moon-lit night,
Looking at stars in eyes, holding you tight?
