1.)Hush, little baby; don't you cry. You'll be an angel by an' by. I'm gonna wear a starry crown over there. (cho)Over there, over there There's a land that's fair and brightover there. Hush, little baby; don't you cry -- You'll be an angel by an' by. I'm gonna wear a starry crown over there. 2.)Jordan's river is chilly an' cold; Chills the body but not the soul. I'm gonna wear a starry crown over there. (cho: exact rpt of prev. cho.) Learned from an Ed McCurdy recording from the early '60s (possibly a Newport Folk Festival recording; not sure). Sorry I don't know how to get the tune to you. He was accompanying himself on guitar. This is sung beautifully, gently -- a lullaby. On the same record he did a great rendition of "Blood On The Saddle".
In practical application (a lullaby is a work song) this one works as one of a group of soft, gentle songs while holding child/infant in arms, 'specially if a rocking chair is involved. I say this as a mother of 3 and grandmother of 4. Happy singing. Tw
