Jeweling Bazookas, there was a mix of Honda Petrol, Rover Petrol and Diesel, VM Diesel and Peugeot Diesel engines in all the Rover 100/200/400/600/800 series cars, I am afraid it isnt that simple!!

But again, Goik`s advice is sound, buy a good one to start with, (low miles, service history, etc.) Get it checked out by a competant mechanic before you part with any money, maintain it regularly and it should serve you well. There is a risk in buying any used car but the 200/400 series have no serious flaws, should give good service, and are relatively simple to service and maintain. I would avoid the 800 series however.
