I have heard that recorders used to be made in G also, ( and probably still can be if you want one ), and I have always wanted one in e-flat. I wonder why recorders are not considered transposing instruments? I would guess that it has more to do with the traditional ways of writing music for the instrument than the instrument itself. Most recorder music I have seen uses the standard treble or bass clef, and the notes to be sounded are shown in the music. The player is expected to use appropriate fingering for his own instrument to get the right notes. MD
