Subject: RE: Retirement/Retreat Community for M'cats
I have been thinking about this a while myself and not coming up with any good answers. I would love to live very near many of my Mudcat friends and many of my old-time friends who I haven't yet been able to convince to check this as well as rec.music.country.oldtime. The problem that I see is that most of us are in the age 40-60 age bracket. (*Look around you at Old Songs, at Clifftop, or Pinewoods and see if this estimate is accurate) Demographically, this is not a good mix-- we would all be trying to care for each other as we're all falling apart. So the question I ask is how can we attract younger people to this music in sufficient numbers that they would be willing to live fulltime amoung the Catters & care for us when we soon reach senility, and lose the ability? you could HIRE such a thing, but most of us aren't rich, maybe if we all pooled our resources . . . I agree with the January thread. I would like to make this a reality some time in the next ten years, and would devote at least some of my life, my6 fortune and my sacred honor (stop laughing) to making it happen. Hope someone has better ideas than I have yet come up with.
