Subject: RE: Lovingkindness Song Circle
Sally Rogers sings a couple of songs that just make me melt. Both are in the database, but I think we sometimes miss something in our discussion here if we don't furnish at least partial quotes of the songs we discuss. One is Bob Franke's "Thanksgiving Eve." For some reason, I've had trouble mastering the tune. I'm the only one I know who knows it, and I haven't quite been able to teach it. The words are beautiful, though:
What can you do with your days but work and hope? Let your dreams bind your work to your play. What can you do with each moment of your life But love till you love it away Love til you love it away.
The other I like even better, especially the time I heard Faith Petric sing it - "It's a Pleasure to Know You," by Karl Williams.
It's a pleasure to know you, A pleasure to see you smile. A comfort to know we'll share the road awhile. But pleasure is fleeting and comforts are far between It's a pleasure to know you and the comforts you bring.
I think both of these songs are apropos for the nice folks who gather here. Wish we could all sing together. I think we'd sound wonderful, and I'm sure we'd melt a few hearts. -Joe Offer-
