Sonnet 01/11/02                           DCCLXI

All Hallows Eve approaches, and my soul
Flies free, to seek for heart's desires. I fear
That dreams outrun reason, and hopes control
Words and desires, yet heart by dreams must steer.
Will stars send vision to become my guide
For paths to woods and wonder? Can I see
My hopes within your smile, or do hopes hide
From all attempts to try to set heart free?
You are dear muse, but dare I try to bind
All my desires to one I do not hold?
I know you care, and all your words are kind,
But I am less than love, and far too old.
I care too much to offer less than all:
Yet, dare I dream that you would for me call?
