When I was a teenager living in Charleston, WV, there was a woman whose husband had bought a 1939 Buick touring car just before he died. His widow, who at this time must have been about 70 years old, would drive the car downtown every Tuesday to get her hair done. She drove at a genteel 20 MPH in the center of Quarrier Street, and was so small in that huge car that you were never sure if it was drivng itself. When she reached the parking lot near the hairderssers, she would get out and leave the car to be parked by the attendant - in so doing, she blocked the sidewalk and about 1/4 of the lane on Lee Street.
