Subject: RE: Obit: R.I.P Christopher Reeve
I remember a song idea CapriUni had about Peter Pan: "I can't walk, but I can fly." That was Christopher Reeve. He took a horrible tragedy, and found a way to fly, to soar.

The last time I heard him speak on TV, he said some feeling had returned to his legs, and he could move a finger. This doesn't sound like much, but in the realm of spinal chord injuries, I think it's huge. It's sad that he never got to walk again. I think if he'd had enough time, he'd have done that. It's not that sad though. We all want stories to have happy endings, but a good life isn't about the ending. We want our travellers to arrive at their destinations. For the traveller though, the best part of a journey is what happens along the path they take. The important part is to just keep moving on.

He kept moving on. He loved and was loved, was respected, was passionate about a cause and gave a lot of people hope, and he showed them what bright possibilities might await them on their own journeys. If that isn't soaring, I don't know what is.
