Sweet dryad, offer me some part of hope
That I might year begin with smile. Your eyes
Enough to hold me, might words extend scope
Of dreams, so heart will seem to act as wise?
Dear friend, lend me a quiet look, to heal
The wounds of passing year. Can I afford
To offer heart? How not, when dream is real?
Am I a fool, to be by hope assured?
Soft rose, you are beauty enough to please
Even my dreams. Should I desire more?
You offer in your eyes the stars, and trees
Against dark sky, and hope I'll not ignore.
To hold you, more than I deserve, but less
Than dream desires: Might you some of hopes bless?
