I would not die for your eyes: I would live
In hope of seeing stars reflected there.
What might I say, that would my feelings give
True life? How can I know what dreams you'll share?
I am not blinded by your smile, but seek
That thought of me would bring such curve to lip.
Are my hopes vain? Do you think I am weak,
For wanting quiet night, and tea to sip?
I want to hold you, and be held: To fold
A quilt in front of fire, and keep you near.
Have I enough of my desires told
To ask if someday I might there appear?
You know my hopes: Might I ask if you'll tell
The worth of dreams to remain under spell?
