Thread Name: Bob Copper on BBC TV4
Subject: RE: Bob Copper on BBC TV4
I really liked it and cannot resist the reference to two other threads here and a knock on comment:

1. Perhaps, if we accept that the Coppers represented the preservation of the tradition, this puts paid to the suggestion that the English Tradition did not include harmony singing.

2. A friend of mine still refuses to go back to the Coppers old club because when (some time ago) he (my friend) accompanied himself singing "The Cutty Wren" on the guitar, Bob Copper allegedly made him feel very uncomfortable about using a non-traditional instrument (for English folk music)

3. I do several Coppers songs - with rhythmic guitar accompaniments - but I like them that way, resulting in the remark at Tenterden that if Bob Copper could have heard them he would be turning in his grave! I still like them, and ain't stopping.
