Over the last week or so, I have posted about a dozen songs for possible inclusion in the DT. It struck me that I have no idea what the criteria for acceptance to the DT are. Browsing the DT itself, it seems to range from Tom Lehrer, doggerel from the likes of Curley Fletcher, contemporary folk idiom songs and the occasional country song through to the purest of Child ballads - so there is little help there. The songs I have proposed encompass traditional folk song, blues and contemporary pieces. I am seeking some guidance from those who make the selection decisions, or any other Mudcatters, as to what the criteria are for inclusion. There seems little point in submitting material that will be summarily rejected for whatever reason. If some indication can be given as to what is, or is not acceptable, I will tailor my contributions accordingly.
