The question would be (assuming the research is accurate), does listening to country music make you more inclined to be suicidal, or does being suicidally inclined make you more likely to country music? (McGrath)

A multiple regression analysis as has been done does not answer this question. There could even be no causal link at all between the two variables, if there was a truly causal variable linked to these two variables that has not been included in the model.
