Not reading through the entire thread--honestly, I did not. I happened to see Mrs. Kerry on CSpan recently--by accident. What a breath of fresh air to hear someone speak intelligently and from her heart to the young people she was addressing.

I have heard of her untoward remark about Mrs. Bush. She apoligized---rather gracious I thought and I still admire her off the cuff way of handling things. She too did important work---not a librarian admittedly. Now she does good works thanks to the money she rcvd from her late husband.   Another idealist, was he.

Now---first ladies are not elected---but would it not be nice to have a real person there rather than a "Barbie" doll who does whatever "Ken" says---and ever so sweetly with clothing that makes all the Sears and Walmart folks feel at home.
