Merina -- thanks for the characterisation of mobile phone haters as 'whingeing technotoads'! Whether it suits your view of the world or not, there are actually millions of us who don't even want a mobile phone. I accept that they are useful to some people in their work, but that's a very small per centage of the one-eared geeks who live with them in their hand.
A few months ago I came out of the National Film Theatre in London and sat on the patio while the rest of the audience came out. Fully 3 out 4 of them whipped out their mobiles as they came out of the building and called. What were they saying so urgently? From where we sat we could hear most of them saying, 'Hi darling, I'm just leaving the NFT'. Gosh! What an absolutely necessary device!
