Excuse if I state the obvious but could this LAPSKAUS be the etymological pre-curser of Lobscouse which gave the inhabitants of Liverpool their alternate name of "Scousers" and is another Nautical expression strayed over from the "sea shanties and maritime folk stuff " thread?
