I had forgotten how impressive a display was made by the sheer numbers of sousaphones (tubas) poking up above the crowd. There may have been New Orleans funerals with bigger crowds -- well, one anyway: Ernie K-Doe's -- but Fat's funeral probably brought out more musicians to actually play in the street than anyone else's ever had.
