As a rule, if something opens an Internet Explorer pop-up window making "Wonderful offers" I would avoid closing it by clicking anywhere on the actual box itself. If you click a button which says "Close" or "Exit" or similar, it is often one which actually redirects you to the "Nasty" site/download/spyware. It is safer to go to the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and "right-click" on that to bring up the options which include "CLOSE" the window.
