The day would remain dark without your smiles,
And thought of you is as my dawn. You care
For friends: How can I not care that heart's trials
Offer but tears, and do not your hopes spare?
I whisper my desires, and strain to hear
What you might wish of me: I seek to know
How I might win your smile. Should I now fear
To speak of dreams, when I would passions show?
You are one who shares heart, and hopes: I'd give
My dreams to bring you heart's desires, or mend
What causes tears. What might I do, to live
My own desire, and some of longing send?
Sweet muse, you know not what difference you make:
If you are dream, I do not wish to wake.
