I think of you, sweet muse, when I awake
To dawn and day's beginning: You bring light
To dream, and give reason for heart to make
The effort to show what I hope I might.
I think of you when all is still, before
Sunrise, and after sunset. In your eyes
I find caring: Will you my hopes restore,
That I might dream of finding love realize?
I think of you in dreams, where I can hold
In my arms throughout night, but I desire
To know your heart: Have lines your own dreams told,
Or should I hopes for passion now retire?
I think of you always, awake and in
My dreams, yet can I your heart hope to win?
