You know, Barbara... Shoregrass isn't bluegrass and it isn't folkgrass (although that wouldn't be a bad name) .. or "New Grass." Maybe you're a Green Grass band. Which would make Frank the "Father of Green Grass... (and you the Mother.) Green Grass would give the imagery of rebirth and renewal, with all the freshness and promise of Spring. There is bluegrass that I really like... the Stanley Brothers, because they are more Mountain Grass with the feel of the hills of Appalachia, with all the ruggedness and beauty. I like Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver because they are just such fine singers, and I love their full, rich harmonies. I had the treat of hearing Lester Flatt and Earl Scrugs in the early 60's, and Bill Monroe in the 80's, and while I appreciated their musicianship, I've overdosed of computer-programmed bluegrass where the two things that are not permitted are originality, or surprise. I mean, I like tradition, but not predictability. That's why I enjoy Shoregrass so much. When bluegrass musicians call you "folkies," I'd take that as a high compliment. When Folkies say you aren't bluegrass, I'd take that as a high compliment.

As for me, "I long to see the green green grass of home." Shore grass does that for me..
